With more than 380,000 registered members to around 280 golf courses, the Dutch love their golf but it hasn’t yet flourished as a golfing holiday destination.
The Dutch landscape is renowned for being very flat and therefore golf course architects are forced to be innovative when building the courses. The sand dunes in the north are used in a brilliant way to make challenges for golfers.
The origins of golf are unclear and much debated. However, it is generally accepted that modern golf developed in The Netherlands during the Middle Ages.
