A Turkish Mediterranean Backdrop For Our 21st World Final
With its reputation for being the fastest growing Mediterranean golf destination in the world, our host country Turkey delivered an exceptional experience that befitted a 21st World Final celebration. Perfect climate conditions, championship courses and first-class hospitality made up all the ingredients of a truly memorable Turkish Mediterranean golf experience that most amateur golfers can only dream about.

The spirit of national pride that embellishes World Amateur Golfers Championship and Invitational set the scene for an exhilarating week, accommodated in the 5-star luxury of the renowned Gloria Hotels & Resorts in Belek, Antalya. We were treated to what is best described as a paradise diverse in choice, unique in taste and what will remain memorable in our hearts – fondly known as the “Gloria experience”.

Our three host courses were in impeccable condition, proof of why they are rated top of the bucket list of courses to play in Turkey. The Gloria Old tree-lined championship course offered a comfortable cocoon of peace with its abundance of natural foliage and huge lakes. In contrast, the Gloria New course provided a slightly more open design that favoured the big hitters. Golfers enjoyed a scenic drive along the Mediterranean coast to Antalya to play our third host course, LykiaLinks which is the first and only links course in Turkey and rated in the Top 50 in Europe. The course, which is designed parallel to the sea and utilises the natural sand dune landscape, presented a more difficult, but unique and equally rewarding experience.

Adding to the splendour for 2015 was the new play format that ‘spiced things up’ by replacing previous years’ practice days with an Individual Stableford competition and three trophies on the table – the Gloria New Cup, Gloria Old Cup and LykiaLinks Cup. The traditional Individual and Team medal format Championship and Invitational followed across the three remaining tournament days over 54 holes.

“Sport Promotes Friendship & Business”
The prestige of WAGC as a global amateur platform to represent your country was showcased when the team captains proudly raised their national flag and officially marked the start of the tournament. It was inspiring to see a colourful diversity of cultures and languages coming together in a shared passion for golf while enjoying great camaraderie. The high standard of competitive amateur golf across both the Championship and Invitational continues to affirm the prestige of earning a World Amateur Golfers Championship, team and individual title.

The 21st World Final will be remembered for world-class amenities and service, magnificent championship golf courses, luxury accommodation, friendly and hospitable management, professional organisation and operational efficiency – the making of another successful and magnificent event!
